Bling!

Bling!

‘Tis the Season to Sparkle’ as one would say, if not just simply while holding a flute of champagne. Some women, of course a very, very blessed few do it naturally. But let’s be honest, it’s work when you’re used to seeing yourself in the quintessential black dress. This holiday season brings an abundance of fabulous goodies to give and receive, and we’ve found all those that glitter!

Who wouldn’t love a dose of high-voltage luxe or a superchic metallic flat? And gentlemen, let’s not forget that diamonds are still a girls best friend. My 4-year-old daughter walks around with a “pretend ruby” in the pocket of her winter coat. Constantly checking to see if her “red diamond” is there. It’s time to shine in lavishly jeweled pieces that add instant glam. Yes, you can do it. The oversized cocktail rings have so saturated the market that you can find them nestled in one of those large jars of jewelry at Forever21. Bless them! The Kenneth Jay Lanes are still my favorite, or perhaps the luxe of the Lemon Citrine, baguette cut, 61.61 ct, 18k rose gold Princess Ring at Moss.

Then there is the magic of the shoe. The perfect pair can transform you or perhaps even change your life. Just think what happened to our dear friend Cinderella?? Simply showing up to the ball in a pair of bejeweled Miu Miu’s may gracefully lead you to a dance with Prince Charming? And a brand sparkling new beau for 2008.

Shine, in all of its fashionable meanings may include glossy patents, brilliant satins, bubble gum sized baubles and rhinestones, pave, glitzy metallic fabrics and make-up, yes make-up. Think Guerlain Kiss Kiss in bright Rouge Elixir and Sally Hansen Red Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color in Twinkle Twinkle, or that delicious Donna Karan Gold Collection fragrance. Just don’t over do it…there should only be one disco ball in the room!

Well, the shoe, the bracelet, the bag? Now, there is an easy way to conquer bling! Or so I thought. I was convinced that I had found the perfect simple tote for day and a sleek clutch for night. Not. I’m lost in a sea of “it” bags that sparkle. Our favorite little lovely, (next to Judith Leiber) was at JCrew and priced perfectly! Making it the most charming girlfriend gift. They also have a red glitter ballet flat that is certainly yummy for all the girls on your list and a stylishly perfect answer to getting around the forbidden lead laced toys! And, at Swarovski, there we discovered the Lock In USB Memory Key. The USB memory key is disguised as a lock and comes in polished stainless steel and baguette-cut Silver Shade crystals with slide-out and hooking mechanisms. For 1 GB of data (about 250 songs or 1000 photos) with password protection, high-speed USB 2.0 interface. Crazy. But clearly for the sister-in-law that has everything.

Having a Holiday Party? Welcome Bling H20. Bottled water that comes in limited edition, corked, 750 ml frosted glass bottles and embellished with Swarovski crystals, of course. Established in 2005 by a Hollywood writer-producer who noticed that, “you could tell a lot about a person by the bottled water that they carried,” Bling H20 is designed to be as much a fashion accessory as a drink of water. Remember, it is water so drink it! Aiming to be the Cristal of bottled water. The bottles cost from USD $17-$480.00. This could be a good gift to send home with all those overly indulgent cocktail drinking guests.

Whatever you decide, from planet-sized beads to a seductive glow, using a brilliant ‘shimmer all over powder' or wearing a gown heavy on ornate embellishment, you should be an evening star and rock the season. You deserve it! The year is almost over and you’ll soon be off to all those new challenges and spring collections…sandals and swimwear are already in stores. Trust us, this alone is reason to toast!
